Corfu, known to the Greeks as Kerkyra, lies in the Ionion Sea to the west of  mainland  Greece. Often described as the 'Emerald Isle' due to its lush green vegetation. It is said that there are over four million olive trees, some of which date back to Venetian times. The Corfiot people are known for their open friendliness and hospitality.  The island is rich in both culture & history. The island enjoys hot, dry summers and mild winters. The capital, Corfu Town, is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Greece.
